News & Events

Posted below are impending parish events. Please read the Bulletins for details on these and future activities.

Stations of the Cross St. David will be celebrating the Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent. Please join Deacon Jerry immediately following the 7:45 a.m. Mass or join Deacon Scott at 7:00 p.m. each Friday during Lent. Stations of the Cross will be celebrated at 12 noon on Good Friday.

DEACONS FOR DIAPERS Beginning the weekend of March 17th and 18th and continuing through Easter weekend, in conjunction with the Respect Life Apostolate, the Deacons of the Archdiocese are sponsoring their 3rd Annual Archdiocesan-wide Diaper Drive. Remember, all diapers collected at St. David stay in our community and will be distributed through SVDP. You can drop off donations in the boxes marked Diaper Drive in the back of church.

PSR NEWS PSR students will pray the Stations of the Cross on Wednesday, March 21, at 6:30 pm. Parents and parishioners are welcome to participate. Other opportunities to pray the Stations of the Cross are after the 7:45 am Mass on Fridays and at 7 pm on the Fridays of Lent. Praying the Stations of the Cross helps us to realize the incredible gift of merciful love that Jesus gave us through His voluntary suffering and excruciating death on the Cross.

SAVE THE DATE March 24th we will be cleaning church for Easter. Cleaning will begin at 8AM. The more who come the quicker we can get finished.

FACILITIES COMMITTEE St. David Catholic Church is looking for parishioners interested in forming and seating a Facilities Maintenance and Upkeep Committee. The duties of this committee will be to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all the facilities (i.e. parking lot, lawn care, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, leaf removal, or any situation or problem that is brought to the committee’s attention.) The committee’s responsibility will not be to perform the work, but to locate individuals to perform the work with the best interest of the parish. This committee is open to all parishioners with some maintenance, construction or housekeeping background. Anyone interested in joining the committee should contact Glen Henson, 314-200-9547. Duties: Obtain Bids/Accept Bids with Pastor’s Approval, Oversee work and approve said work prior to payment, inspect parish and rectory, assure all work is completed accurately and completely, notifies pastor of any work needed Dynamic Catholic, Alive! -The Cross There is so much to reflect upon in the readings today. First, we can reflect on the Ten Commandments in the proper way and what their true nature is: they are guideposts to living in authentic freedom for goodness. They are not mere restrictions against fun as the world often tells us. Second, Paul reminds us that we must preach Christ crucified and never offer less than the truth about our faith to others. Christ’s Passion shows us that we too must endure suffering in order to enter into glory. Finally, the Gospel shows the righteous anger of Christ and foreshadows His Resurrection from the dead. We are called to walk the road to Calvary with Christ and enter into the mystery of His suffering.

WHITE HOUSE RETREAT FOR MEN This is the first call for men of St. David Church to make our ANNUAL RETREAT at White House Retreat. All men of the Parish are invited to share three days of peace at White House Retreat on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River in South County. The retreat starts with check in from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on June 21, 2018 and ends at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday June 24th. A White House Retreat provides an excellent opportunity to spend time in prayer and reflection, uninterrupted by the numerous distractions of everyday life. During the retreat, you will be guided through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius that have been the keystone of the White House experience since 1922. In recent years, Pope Benedict XVI has strongly encouraged the attendance at retreats based on the Spiritual Exercises. Our Lord offers His gift of peace and invites you to draw closer to Him, surrounded by the quiet beauty of His Creation. Please consider accepting His invitation. For reservations, please contact Tony Braun, Captain for this retreat at 636-287-6659 or francisbcglobal.net.

Our New Church Directory is Here! Look in your mailbox for our new Church Directory. They should be arriving in the coming week. If you are new to the parish, haven’t registered, or didn’t receive a book after a few weeks, please stop by the rectory. We have extra copies. The advertisers helped provide this service at no cost to our congregation. We encourage you to think of them in the future as your needs arise. If you are interested in advertising next year, contact: amandavogt@guidebookpublishing.com for more information. Please familiarize yourself with the ministries and organizations at our church located in the front of the book. An electronic PDF version of the Ministry section which you can download to your computer, smart phone, or tablet is available. To download, click here.
